The word esperanza means, “hope.” Since 2003 the Esperanza Academic Center has offered hope and empowerment for Hartford-area adults to acquire skills needed to succeed in college and the workplace. The EAC provides writing, math, computer literacy, financial literacy, and workplace training to adults with a high school diploma or GED, in a supportive, non-discriminatory environment and work-friendly schedule. Many students with special challenges use EAC as a “bridge” to mainstream higher education.

Support for Esperanza Academic Center is provided in part through a City of Hartford Community Development Block Grant, and gifts and grants. Please consider donating so that we can continue to make the program affordable.

Esperanza Academic Center holds classes on Saturday 9:00-12:00 noon in three eight-week semesters: September-November, January-March, and March-May. Registration fee is $45. Tuition is on a sliding scale. Click here for the current calendar.
